West Point Cadet Sues Music Icon Patty LaBelle

23 year old West Point cadet, Richard King, claims he was attacked by Patty LaBelle’s bodyguards for standing to close to the diva’s luggage at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport. In King’s lawsuit he claims LaBelle ordered the brutal beating from her limo. He further claims she just sat there watching and never tried to stop her bodyguards. It goes on to say she did not even get out of the vehicle, until officers with the Houston Police Department arrived.
The officers’, who are on surveillance footage posing for photos with LaBelle, incident report does not match King’s account of what happened. There was an assault, but Zuri Edwards, Patty’s son/driver, claims it was a drunken King who was the aggressor after being told to “skedaddle”.

King’s lawyer denies his client even knew who LaBelle was or that she was famous, but doesn’t deny King had been drinking on the plane.

Ford to build own 8-speed transmission, first 3-cylinder engine

Dearborn - Ford Motor Co. today announced plans to make an eight-speed transmission as well as a tiny one-liter, three-cylinder turbo engine as part of its commitment to improving the fuel economy of its vehicles.

Ford also will add production of a transmission for its hybrid engines to the Van Dyke assembly plant with production starting in December. The automaker has invested $135 million to design, engineer and manufacture the transmission in-house. To date it has sourced the transmission from Japanese supplier Aisin. The move created 220 jobs, and the workers are already working on prototypes.
Derrick Kuzak, head of global product development, said the plans for an eight-speed automatic transmission fall within the plan to add 60 new engines and transmissions from 2009 to 2013, and they will also be built in the U.S.

He would not be more specific on timing or plant locations.

The multi-speed transmission, which was done internally by Ford, should improve fuel economy by 2-6 percent, Kuzak said.

As for the three-cylinder engine, it will be for global use, including small cars in the United States. The engine will be built in numerous locations globally but officials would not confirm that North America will be one of them.

The engine was first shown at the 2010 Beijing auto show in a tiny concept car called the Start. While the engine was announced for production today, Ford has not said if the car will also go into productio

For those Maserati Quattroporte owners seeking a bit more flair from the Italian sports sedan, German tuning house MR Car Design has prepared a mild performance package. Starting with a pre-facelift model, MR Car Design’s engineers tweak the 4.2-litre V8 engine’s software and add a custom exhaust system lifting output by 30HP and 29Nm for a total of 430-horses and 480Nm (352 lb-ft) of peak torque.

Luckily, MR Car Design didn't mess around too much with the Quattroporte’s looks as the only cosmetic changes concern the new 22-inch Vossen alloy wheels shod in high-performance tires size 245/30 R22 at the front and 295/25 R22 with 15mm spacers at the back, the tinted windows and the new tail pipe designs.

A set of adjustable sport springs from H&R that lower the car’s ride height from 20mm to 30mm complete the updates.
