The third crossover model of Audi’s Q-series, the new Q3, will carry a base price tag of £24,560 OTR (about US$39,800 / €28,200) when order books open in Britain this June, with first deliveries set to take place in November. Buyers will have a choice of four powerplants, all combining direct fuel injection with turbo charging and all backed up by start-stop and energy recuperation systems, while Audi will also offer a front wheel drive only version.
There are two diesel engines, a 2.0-liter TDI delivering 140HP or 170HP, and two gasoline units, a 2.0-liter TFSI in 170HP and 211HP forms. The 54.3mpg imp (45.2 mpg US) 2.0-litre TDI 140PS diesel unit will power the front-wheel-drive model only at launch, while all other engines will be linked to the German firm’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.
The Q3 is offered in two basic specifications, S and SE with the latter adding 17-inch alloy wheels, contrasting exterior trim, chrome window trims, aluminum roof rails, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, a Concert audio system with 6.5-inch manually retractable color display screen, Bluetooth interface, Audi Music Interface iPod connection and light and rain sensors.
As with other Audi models, the Q3 can be upgraded to the S-Line specification, which adds 18-inch alloy wheels, S line exterior and interior styling enhancements, and xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps and LED rear tail lights. The S-Line package costs £2,750.
