Similarly, there are other regions which are completely isolated, only a few travelers visit these places, some of them are mentioned below.

1. Easter Island

This is a small island, home to around four thousand people and located 2 thousand miles to the west of the Chilean Coast. The huge wooden sculptures present on this island everywhere are the main source of attraction for archaeologists and historians. Researchers’ believe that these gigantic stone heads were carved around 600 years ago by the earliest inhabitants of this island and it might a reason for the deforestation of this island.

2. La Rinconada, Peru

This is an amazing place to see, but because it is situated almost 17,000 feet above sea level in South America, La Rinconada which is a small mining town in Peruvian Andes is visited by least tourists. According to a survey conducted, this city is considered to be the highest in the world. The only way to reach this town is by heavy trucks and it takes days to reach the city. The harsh conditions here in La Rinconada cannot be tolerated by everyone but still around thirty thousand people live here, and almost all of them are involved in the business of mining gold.

3. McMurdo Station, Antarctica

This is more like a city based on research centers in Antarctica. The are many other research centers in the adjoining areas but McMurdo station is the largest one and it remains under operation throughout the year regardless of the harsh conditions of the climate. During the summer months, the McMurdo station becomes a home to more than 1200 scientists and other workers. The McMurdo station is located at the Ross Island near the northern end of the continent. In the early times, it used to take days to reach the McMurdo station by boat and sometimes even a month depending on the condition of the weather but now three airstrips have been built which remain operational almost all the year.

4. Cape York Peninsula, Australia

Australia is ranked firsts when it comes to countries with least discovered areas. Due to its low population, there many untouched or undiscovered regions here in Australia. Cape York Peninsula, located in the northern end of the city could be the best example. The Cape York Peninsula is considered to be the only least developed region of the world. It is home to around 18,000 people which belong to the local tribes. Most of the tourists visit this region of Australia on jeeps and other heavy trucks, because the roads are unpaved and mostly remain closed due to heavy rains and floods. 5. Ittoqqortoormiit, Greenland

Greenland is considered to be the largest island of the world with an area of 836,000 square miles. The population of this country is only 57,000 people which actually proves how much isolated this region of the world is. Out of the all the cities and towns of Greenland, Ittoqqortoormiit is the smallest and most remote area of the country, with a population of only 500 people. Most of these people make their living by hunting polar bears and whales. The seas surrounding this region of the country are mostly frozen and therefore, the tourists only have a three month time span to visit this city. There is an airport near to the city but the flights are rare due to the harsh climate.

6. Kerguelen Islands

These islands are also called desolated islands. There are no natives in this region and no airstrips either. The only way to reach these islands is by taking a six-day boat ride from the Reunion Island, located near the coast of the Madagascar. Just like the McMurdo Station in the Antarctica, these islands are also based on French research centers. These islands were first discovered in 1772 and since then these islands have been visited by many biologists and other scientists. The Islands now have a satellite station, a French missile defense system and it also serves as a refuge for the endangered cattle.

7. Pitcairn Island

This is the last British territory in the Southern Pacific Ocean and is now home to 50 people only. Many of these people are descendants of the famous HMS Bounty. Most of these people make their living by fishing, farming and selling the extremely rare post stamps collections to the collectors from all over the world. Just like many other isolated areas, this island has no airstrip. The best way to reach this island for tourists is to complete ten days long journey from New Zealand.

8. Alert, Nunavut, Canada

Alert is a tiny village located in the Nunavut region on the edge of Canada and is only 500 miles below the North Pole. As the name of the village suggests, you have to be very alert of the harsh weather conditions before planning to visit this village. The temperature here 40 degrees below zero is normal for the local residents. This village is also considered to be the northernmost permanently inhabited region of the world. The nearest town to this village is around 13 hundred miles away and other closest cities like Quebec are twice the distance. There is an airstrip because of the presence of the military, but due to harsh climatic conditions it mostly remains closed.

9. Motuo County

Motua is now the last county of China which still has no roads connected it to rest of the regions of China. Motuo has a small community in the Tibetan region. It is quite difficult to reach the Motuo County not just because of the absence of any roads, but also because you have to pass over a 200 meter long suspension bridge and also through the frozen Himalayan Mountains. Motuo County is has the cleanest environment in the Asia and the untouched natural beauty is mesmerizing indeed. Buddhists also consider it to be the holy land and virtual Eden for the plants because it is also home to about one-tenth of all floras in China.

10. Tristan da Cunha

The Island was first discovered by a Portuguese explorer back in 1506. This island has a wonderful story despite of its isolation and great distance from other surrounded countries, South Africa is 1700 miles away while South America is about 2,000 miles away from this Island. After its discovery, the British feared that the French might use this island as a departure point to rescue Napoleon, who had been exiled and was living in the nearby St. Helena. The island was made a new home for the British, American and Italian settlers. Now only 271 people inhabit this island and are mostly descendants of the earliest settlers. Most of these people earn a living by fishing farming and craft making. There is no possibility of making an airstrip due to the geography of the island; the only way to travel to this island is by boats.
